We are 100+ Women Who Care – Elmhurst Area.
Our mission is to positively impact the local community by making a financial contribution to a local charity four times a year. As a result of our work together, we also expect to find other ways to make a difference.
How did this all get started? The first 100+ Women Who Care group was initiated in November of 2006 by Karen Dunigan of Jackson, Michigan as a brilliantly simple way to raise money efficiently and quickly for a local charities. Her group of 100 women, at their first one-hour meeting, each wrote a check for $100 directly to the charity, raising $10,000 to buy 300 new baby cribs for an organization in their city. Since then, chapters with the same mission and structure have formed across the country.
What’s the history of the Elmhurst Area chapter? The 100+ WWC – Elmhurst Area chapter was launched on November 4, 2013 by Betsy Aldred, Amy Allen, Jean Carlquist, Marty Davy and Charlotte Mushow.
Where are the other chapters? There are 100+ Women Who Care chapters around the United States, Canada and Mexico with new chapters being added each year. Each operate based on the model of the first 100+ Women Who Care group. For a listing of chapters, http://www.100wwc.org/sc/More.html
